McCahon Floral
McCahon Floral is a third generation nursery business that grows plants for indoor and outdoor enjoyment in greenhouses and fields on 30 acres in Watsonville. Laurie and Andy McCahon own and operate the nursery with the help of all six of their children and 50 employees.
The nursery was founded in 1947 by Andy McCahon’s grandparents, who emigrated from Northern Ireland in search of job opportunities. After arriving at Ellis Island, Andy’s grandfather followed his sister to San Francisco. There he found a job at a greenhouse and met his future wife. The rest is history!
“Having our children help us at the farmers markets has been a great experience for our family. The kids have gained a healthy work ethic, and learned about running a business,” said Laurie. It’s also just wonderful to have our children with us as much as possible,” she added.
“What we love about this business is that our plants bring happiness to others — it’s as simple as that! We have met many nice people at the farmers markets and made new friends there too,” exclaimed Laurie
