Ratto Bros.

Since 1905, Ratto Bros. has been owned and oper­ated in the fam­ily tra­di­tion started by Antone L. Ratto. The son of Ital­ian immi­grants, Antone grew his own veg­eta­bles on Bay Farm Island near Oak­land and per­son­ally deliv­ered his veg­eta­bles to his cus­tomers in a horse-​drawn cart.

Antone was blessed with five sons who fol­lowed in their father’s foot­steps to become farm­ers them­selves. Col­lec­tively, the broth­ers formed the Ratto Bros. part­ner­ship in 1957. Look­ing to expand their oper­a­tions in 1962, Ratto Bros. grav­i­tated to the fer­tile San Joaquin Val­ley near Modesto, where they added sev­eral hun­dred acres of prime farm­land to their operations.

One hun­dred years and sev­eral gen­er­a­tions later, the Ratto fam­ily still grows their own veg­eta­bles and cul­ti­vates per­sonal rela­tion­ships with each of their cus­tomers. Ratto Bros. offers more than 70 vari­eties of deli­cious herbs, leafy greens, fruits, and other veg­eta­bles through­out the year.
