Job Title: Freight Coor­di­na­tor
Employee Sta­tus: Exempt/​Salary, Reg­u­lar, Full-​time

Pri­mary Pur­pose:
The Freight Coor­di­na­tor facil­i­tates, secures and coor­di­nates direct in-​bound freight for prod­ucts pur­chased at com­pet­i­tive rates.

Essen­tial Func­tions:
1. Coor­di­nate pur­chases, hire car­ri­ers and dis­patch car­ri­ers.
2. Effec­tively load trucks to fullest capac­ity to ensure freight rates are at low­est cost per case.
3. Man­age load­ing process at the pick-​up points to assure timely receiv­ing of prod­uct.
4. Mon­i­tor cur­rent trans­porta­tion rates to keep com­pany com­pet­i­tive.
5. Par­tic­i­pate in set­ting car­ri­ers’ stan­dards and poli­cies.
6. Mon­i­tor insur­ance require­ments man­dated by com­pany.
7. Review and mon­i­tor con­tract agree­ments.
8. Nego­ti­ate freight cred­its as needed for dam­aged prod­uct, late trucks, etc.
9. Pur­chase assigned prod­ucts.

Sam­ple of Qual­i­fi­ca­tions:
1. Cur­rent pro­duce license to pur­chase pro­duce. No PACA restric­tions on that license.
2. Effec­tive writ­ten and oral com­mu­ni­ca­tions.
3. Pro­fi­cient in Windows-​based com­puter appli­ca­tions and com­puter research skills.
4. Abil­ity to man­age mul­ti­ple tasks and projects.
5. Abil­ity to work as part of a team.
6. Abil­ity to adjust work to a chang­ing envi­ron­ment.
7. Abil­ity to be avail­able after hours via phone to answer ques­tions and prob­lem solve.
8. Abil­ity to per­form the pri­mary func­tions of this posi­tion with or with­out rea­son­able accom­mo­da­tion.

Edu­ca­tion and Expe­ri­ence:
High School grad­u­ate required. Three years’ expe­ri­ence in the pro­duce and trans­porta­tion field a plus.
